Four-legged chicken surprises people
Bantwal: A four legged chicken born at Thumbay has taken everyone by surprise. The rare bird is born at the house of Padmavathi residing in Lacchil.
The bird born just 12 days ago has two normal legs and an extra set of what appear to be suspended legs that dangle from behind. But the extra legs are not strong enough as the front ones.
"At first, the chicken looked normal but over time, the two extra legs grew and our family discovered them" said Padmavathi. Many curious people have flocked to their house to see the special chicken.
It is also said that the chicken must be suffering from ’ Polymelia ’, a birth defect involving limbs, in which the affected individual or animal has more than the usual number of limbs. The extra limb is most commonly shrunken and/or deformed which is also known as ’ Parasite ’.
Polymelia is basically a genetic deformity. It happens during development of embryo and sometimes not only in chicks but other animals to go through this says a research.
Deaf and dumb building worker gets locked in strong room for two hours

Ashfaq (23), a worker at the site had reportedly entered the strong room in the morning, for cleaning the room. It is said that a brick was always kept at the edge of the entrance to make sure that the door of the strong room does not close as the key to the room was kept in the head office of the Society situated in Mangalore. Unaware of the situation, rest of the workers went on a tea break. Ashfaq who realised that he had been locked in the room could not raise alarm, but started banging door for help.
On returning from the break, the workers could hear someone banging the door inside the locker room. It was then that they tapped into the room from the keyhole and sensed that Ashfaq was banging the door for help. But, the workers could not help Ashfaq because they did possess the key.
Instantly called a local doctor Dr Anil Kumar, who rushed to the spot and provided oxygen by plugging a pipe into the keyhole.
Meanwhile, a few other workers got the required key from the Mangalore branch of the Society and brought Ashfaq out. He is said to have recovered from the shock after a brief period.
