He was chairing the development of coastal tourism circuit at deputy commissioner’s office, Mangalore on Tuesday, October 28.
M/s Darashaw & Co Pvt Ltd has been appointed as the agency for impelementing the project
Surathkal Beach
Pointing out the various requirements Ibrahim expressed the need for widening the existing road in Surathkal and also to construct an alternative road.
Install flood lights: Chief Executive Officer of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project, Yatish Baikampady pointed out the need to install flood lights instead of high mast lights as proposed by Darashaw as he said flood lights will not serve the purpose.
Someshwar Beach
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Tulasi Maddinneni suggested setting up of amphitheatre near the entrance of the beach where defunct quarry existed. She also suggested to set up a parking space on the vacant land.
Ullal Beach
Maddineni said Ullal Beach had to be developed in the lines of a place which was ideal for the family members to spend time.
She expressed the need to develop a park for children. Furthermore, there was no need of installing benches as proposed by Darashaw.
Yatish Baikampady also requested the Ullal Municipal Council to clear the garbage dumped near the beach.
Thalapady Beach
Ibrahim said road connectivity to Talapady beach needed to be made better.
"High mast lamps, life guard watch towers needed to be installed. There was no need to install benches as Thalapady beach had to be developed as nature lover’s beach" Maddineni said.
Sultan Battery Beach
Sultan Battery beach should be developed for the local people. A barge landing should be set up, to facilitate movement of vehicle from one side to another, Maddinenni said.
Jet Skis for rescue operation
Instead of speed boats jet skis should be used for rescue operations, Yatish suggested.
In Panambur too jet skis are being used and 40 per cent rescue operations have been done with the help of jet skis, he added.
Maintenance mechanism
DC and Maddineni took the Darshaw officials for not initiating steps to clean the toilets.
They said unless cleanliness of the toilet and maintenance mechanism was worked out, project plan wouldn’t be complete.
Beach cleaners
DC, Maddinenni directed the officials to make use of tractor mounted beach cleaners on North and South side of the beaches.
Incorporate changes discussed
Yatish Baikampady requested the officials to incorporate the changes discussed in the meeting, as certain changes discussed in the previous meeting were not incorporated citing non approval from Central Government.
DCP Dr K V Jagadish, Superintending Engineer T S Kaladagi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sadashi Rao were present among others.
