Cops wives ‘run away’ with chit fund money; husband surrenders to police

The incident came to light when a few women who had invested with Chandrika went to her house in the morning only to find her unavailable. Puttaswamachar who was at home, had to face a volley of questions from the panicked investors. He had no option left than surrendering to Nazarbad police. Police sources said, Puttaswamachar was running the business along with his wife since 2008. Kumari was assisting the couple, while her husband is found innocent. About 500 investors majority of them women had invested in 12 different chits ranging from ` 50,000 to ` 1.20 lakh having atleast 40 members for each. She was also running a gold chit where in the customer had to pay ` 250 per month for 12 months to avail the benefit of gold and silver valuables at the end. Likewise she had collected a huge amount from her customers spread over J C Nagar, Raghavendra Nagar and nearby localities. Not willing to take any chances, a few among the investors had maintained a record collecting Chandrika’s signature for every installment paid. Complaints are being registered based on those records only, the police added. Puttaswamachar has been arrested and a case has been registered against them under section 420 of IPC. Newly wed killed In a tragic incident, a newly married woman was killed on the spot, while her husband suffered minor injuries when their two-wheeler was hit by a KSRTC bus on Tuesday. Raju, who is on vacation was on his way to drop his wife to bus stop, when death lurked at them. The bus bound towards Manandavadi from Holenarasipura hit their vehicle from the rear. Shobha came under the backwheels, and Raju was thrown off to his right. He is undergoing treatment at Apollo BGS Hospitals. K R Traffic Police have registered a case. Two missing Two persons including a mentally unsound boy are missing in separate cases. He is mentally unsound and was often spending time near the famous Tripura Sundari Ammanavara Temple in the village. He is 4.5 feet tall, oval faced and was wearing black pant and shirt at that time. In another case, D Ramesh, 38, son of late Doddasiddaiah of Koppalur in the taluk is missing from September 1. He is medium built, 5.5 feet tall, wearing blue shirt and black pant, according to a complaint lodged by his wife Renuka. Finders if any may contact south police on 2444955 |
