Paper says it may have been ‘Lailat Al Qadr

The sun was caught on camera rising in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday in a different shape, indicating it was ‘Lailat Al Qadr’ (night of destiny), which Muslims believe takes place in the last 10 days of the fasting month of Ramadan.

‘Sabq’ Arabic language daily said well-known Saudi photojournalist Saleh Al Feraij captured the sunrise in the northern border town of Rafha at around 5:14 am on Tuesday and that he has watched for that phenomenon for the past week.

“The pictures show that Monday night Ramadan 26 was the blessed Lailat Al Qadr,” said the paper, which published several pictures of the sunrise.

Muslims believe that the first verses of the Quran were revealed to Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) during that night.

It is one of the odd nights of the last 10 days or Ramadan and is better than 1,000 months of worship.

Muslims also believe that on this night, the blessings and mercy of Allah is abundant and sins are forgiven.
