Milagres Tourney 2025–26 to elevate sportsmanship among twin diocese Roman Catholics

Udupi, Jan 8: The Milagres Cathedral Campus, Kallianpur, is all set to come alive with sporting fervour as the ‘Milagres Tourney 2025–26’ is being organised with great enthusiasm on Sunday, January 11, at the Milagres College Ground.

The tournament is being conducted as part of the Milagres Utsav which is being organised in part of annual feast celebration with the great support of Phirjenth Wilson and Leena Fernandes of Fernandes group.

The multi-discipline sports tournament will feature exciting competitions in volleyball and throwball. Participation is exclusively open to Roman Catholic teams from the Dioceses of Mangaluru and Udupi, providing a common platform for talented players from both dioceses to showcase their skills and competitive spirit.

Adding to the excitement, the organisers have announced attractive prize money for the winners. The champion team will receive Rs 25,000, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 15,000 and the second runners-up Rs 10,000. In addition, three individual prizes in each category, along with medals and trophies, will be presented to recognise outstanding performances.

The last date for registration is January 9, and interested teams are encouraged to register well in advance to avoid disappointment. The prize distribution ceremony will be held on January 21, coinciding with the Annual Feast Day celebrations, during the grand cultural evening titled “Wilfy Nite.”

Only 12 teams will be allowed to participate in the men’s volleyball and 10 teams in women’s throwball on first come first serve basis. Matches will be conducted in the league format in both the games.

The organising team has extended a warm invitation to all eligible teams to be part of this vibrant sporting event, which not only promotes physical fitness but also strengthens bonds of fraternity and community spirit. The organisers expressed confidence that the Milagres Tourney 2025–26 will be a memorable and meaningful celebration for all participants and spectators.
