The Feast of ‘Christ the King’ and the Diocesan Annual Eucharistic Procession 2025.

Saturday night though experienced unusual downpour, and the following day was cloudy, there was no dampening of the joy and spirits among thousands of devotees who reached Milagres Cathedral, from the 52 parishes of the Udupi Diocese, much before 3.00 pm, as the prayerful session was given a start with recitation of the Holy Rosary.

Solemn Holy Mass and Procession:

The solemn Holy Mass at Milagres Cathedral, celebrated by Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese, at 3.30 pm with Deans and priests from the Diocese. In his well-worded impressive homily, Bishop Lobo reflected on Christ’s kingship, calling the faithful to live as witnesses to His love and service.

As the gigantic bells in the artistic Cathedral heralded the colorful and graceful Eucharistic procession, began after the Mass, with the Blessed Sacrament reverently carried in a beautifully adorned monstrance, in an artistically decorated vehicle. The Brass Band, choir members of Milagres Cathedral and Mount Rosary Church and others enhanced the spiritual atmosphere with melodious hymns and chants in the Church and others joining the chorus and in prayers throughout the procession and the adoration service. Their harmonized singing lifted the hearts of the faithful and added a profound sense of devotion.

The Udupi Diocesan Eucharistic Procession, a cherished annual event marking the ‘Feast of Christ the King’, was celebrated with grandeur and devotion on Sunday, November 23, 2025. The event began at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur, and culminated at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte. It drew large numbers of the faithful, including clergy, religious, and laity from across the diocese with their attractive attires, uniforms and wearing religious symbols and holding banners and hoardings….!

Leadership and Coordination:

Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, the Rector Milagres Cathedral and Vicar General of the Udupi Diocese, with his assistant Fr Cardoza played a pivotal role in overseeing the overall organization and coordination of the event. His leadership ensured seamless planning, enabling the faithful to partake in this spiritual journey with devotion and discipline. His guidance was instrumental in aligning the efforts of the various groups involved in the procession.

At Mount Rosary Church, Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza, Parish Priest, took charge of hosting the culmination of the procession. His meticulous arrangements ensured that the church and its surroundings were well-prepared to receive the Eucharistic procession. He devoutly led the prayers before the Holy Sacrament in Mount Rosary and also his team along with Assistant priest Fr Rohan Muscarenhas in decorating the venue, organizing the liturgical celebrations, and extending hospitality to the faithful.

Laity leadership and Contributions from Volunteers and Organizations:

As deservedly expressed during the vote of thanks, by Mr.  Ronald Saldanha, the success of this event owed much to the concerted efforts of various parish and diocesan organizations worked in union with Parish Pastoral Council Members and office bearers:

ICYM (Indian Catholic Youth Movement) and YCS (Young Catholic Students) volunteers ensured smooth flow and discipline during the procession.

Altar Servers displayed their dedication by assisting in the liturgical ceremonies and maintaining reverence around the Blessed Sacrament.

Members of the Catholic Sabha and all other pious organizations from the Kallianpur Varado and the diocese contributed their time and effort to ensure every aspect of the procession was carried out with precision.

The faithful from the nearby local parishes in large numbers and distant Churches from Byndoor to Karkala, from five Deaneries united in prayer and devotion, creating a vibrant community atmosphere.

Adoration and Benediction:

The procession concluded at Mount Rosary Church with a solemn Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, led by Rev. Fr Pradeep Cardoza, the Assistant Priest in the Milagres Cathedral, deserve a mention as he in his effective sermon quoting various Apostolic Letters gave a call to the faithful to live and become  Eucharistic families imitating early Apostles and disciples, in the parish family and being a part and partakers in the Holy Mass……The fourfold reflections was a real spiritual enrichment to the large gathering to carry home….. The deep prayers and meditations reminded the faithful of Christ’s sacrificial love and kingship. The ceremony ended with Benediction, imparting blessings to all present.

Symbol of Unity and Faith:

The Eucharistic procession was a powerful manifestation of the unity and faith of the Udupi Diocese. The decorated route with buntings and banners, active participation of diverse groups, and the heartfelt prayers of the faithful reaffirmed the diocese’s commitment to Christ the King.

The day left the community spiritually enriched, motivated to live by the values of the Eucharist, and prepared to celebrate the approaching liturgical season of Advent with renewed fervor preparing for the landmark Christmas 2025….!

ಉಡುಪಿ: ಉಡುಪಿ ಕಥೊಲಿಕ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಪರಮ ಪ್ರಸಾದದ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತರಾಜರ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಭಕ್ತರ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾನುವಾರ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಪುರ ಮಿಲಾಗ್ರಿಸ್ ಕ್ಯಾಥೆಡ್ರಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಜರಗಿತು.

ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತರಾಜರ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವದ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಬಲಿಪೂಜೆಯ ನೇತೃತ್ವ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಧರ್ಮಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಜೆರಾಲ್ಡ್ ಐಸಾಕ್ ಲೋಬೊ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ’ನಾವು ತೋರಿಸುವ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ತೋರ್ಪಡಿಕೆಯಾಗಿರದೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಾರ್ಯದ ಮೂಲಕ ಮಾಡಿ ತೋರಿಸುವಂತಿರಬೇಕು. ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸೇವೆ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತ ಧರ್ಮದ ಮೂಲ ತತ್ವವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅದನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯವರಲ್ಲಿ ತೋರ್ಪಡಿಸಲು ಹಿಂಜರಿಯಬಾರದು’ ಮುಂದಿನ ವರ್ಷವನ್ನು ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಡವರ ವರ್ಷವಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಕಷ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿರುವವರಿಗೆ, ಬಡತನದ ನೋವಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವವರಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯಹಸ್ತ ಚಾಚಲು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರು ಈ ವರ್ಷದದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಣತೊಡೋಣಾ ಎಂದರು.

ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬಲಿಪೂಜೆಯ ಬಳಿಕ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ವಿಲ್ಸನ್ ಡಿಸೋಜ ಪರಮ ಪ್ರಸಾದ ಆರಾಧನೆ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿದರು. ಬಳಿಕ ಪರಮ ಪ್ರಸಾದವನ್ನು ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿದ, ತೆರೆದ ವಾಹನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಒಯ್ದು ಸಂತೆಕಟ್ಟೆ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಪುರ ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಚರ್ಚ್ನ ಮೈದಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಿರಂಗ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಗೌರವ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್- ಸಂಗೀತ ಮತ್ತು ಭಕ್ತಿ ಗೀತೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆ ನಡೆಯಿತು.

ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಜರಿ ದೈವಾಲಯದ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ದೈವವಾಕ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಬೋಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಮಿಲಾಗ್ರಿಸ್ ಕಾಥೆಡ್ರಲ್ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಗುರು ವಂದನೀಯ ಫಾ. ಪ್ರದೀಪ್ ಕಾರ್ಡೋಜ ರವರು ನೀಡಿದರು. ಅವರು “ಅಪೋಸ್ತಲರ ಆತ್ಮಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಧರ್ಮಕೇಂದ್ರ, ಮನೆ, ಸಮುದಾಯ—ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಪರಮಪ್ರಸಾದ ಐಕ್ಯ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಕಟ್ಟುವ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ನಮ್ಮದಾಗಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ಮನದಟ್ಟು ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಧರ್ಮಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಮಪ್ರಸಾದದ ಅಂತಿಮ ಆಶೀರ್ವಚನ ನೀಡಿ ಭಕ್ತರಿಗೆ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಬಲವರ್ಧನ ಒದಗಿಸಿದರು.

ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಬೈಬಲ್ ಆಯೋಗದ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ವಂ| ವಿಲ್ಸನ್ ಡಿಸೋಜ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂತೆಕಟ್ಟೆ ಮೌಂಟ್ ರೋಸರಿ ಚರ್ಚಿನ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ವಂ|ಡಾ| ರೋಕ್ ಡಿಸೋಜ ದೈವಾರಾಧನಾ ವಿಧಿಯನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಕವಾಗಿ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು. ರೊನಾಲ್ಡ್ ಸಲ್ಡಾನಾ ಧನ್ಯವಾದ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.

ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯ ಚರ್ಚ್ಗಳಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 3000ಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಭಕ್ತರು, 60ಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಧರ್ಮ ಗುರುಗಳು, 100ಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಧರ್ಮ ಭಗಿನಿಯರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

ಉಡುಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ವಿಕಾರ್ ಜನರಲ್ ಮೊನ್ಸಿಂಜ್ಞೊರ್ ಫರ್ಡಿನಾಂಡ್ ಗೊನ್ಸಾಲ್ವಿಸ್, ಕುಲಪತಿ ವಂ|ಸ್ಟೀಫನ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ, ಶಿರ್ವ, ಕಾರ್ಕಳ, ಉಡುಪಿ ವಲಯಗಳ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಧರ್ಮಗುರುಗಳಾದ ವಂ|ಡಾ|ಲೆಸ್ಲಿ ಡಿಸೋಜ, ವಂ|ಆಲ್ಬನ್ ಡಿಸೋಜಾ, ವಂ| ಚಾರ್ಲ್ಸ್ ಮಿನೇಜಸ್, ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಪಾಲನಾ ಸಮಿತಿ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಲೆಸ್ಲಿ ಅರೋಝಾ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
