Udupi, Oct. 22: Today newspaper has grown as an industry. There will be pressure to deliver the news effectively. It is necessary to put out the collected news in the form of information. Amidst the stress, journalists can also participate in sports activities to maintain good health. Udupi District Collector Dr. Vidya Kumari said that fearless journalism is very necessary today.

She was speaking while inaugurating the ’Silver Sports Celebration’ annual sports event held at Udupi District Stadium in Ajjarakadu on the occasion of Silver Jubilee under the auspices of Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association and She received the salute during the march past of journos.

Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of Manipal Kasturba Hospital said that journalism is an influential medium and people should develop the habit of reading newspapers. Journalists should devote 30 minutes a day to sports activities, so that he would be able to be healthy.

Udupi Municipal Council Municipal Commissioner Rayappa, businessman Ananda P. were the chief guests. Suvarna Malpe, Manipal Mahe Sports Secretary Vinod Nayak participated. Assistant Director of Udupi Sports and Youth Empowerment Department Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty inaugurated the sports event.
