Barkur is honoured with third Konkani Sahitya Academy Award.

Udupi, October 15: Today veteran Filmmaker Harry Fernandes awarded prestigious ‘Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award’ - for Konkani art, writing stories, and directing films In Konkani – Nossibacho Khel, Sophiya, Zavain No 1, and super duper hit Bendkar . It is apt to note here earlier his Sophiya the love story, won the ‘Karnataka State award’ in the regional section.

Harry Fernandes Barkur, not only directed Konkani movies but also, in Marathi, Bhojpuri, Hindi, and in Punjabi language. Interestingly his new movie ‘Miya Biwi Razi, Ki karegi Paaji’ ready for release in cinemas on 29th November, 2024.

Now in Konkani after its first recipient for Konkani literature in Short stories categories won by Kishore Gonsalves, (Kishoo Barkur), for ‘Rupnni’ in the year 2001 and the second one by Anthony Prakash DSouza for his anthology of poems ‘Kaat Tutcho vell’ in 2010 and yet again stories ‘Maassam’ in 2020, from Goa State Academy.
