Udupi: Secretary of the Catholic Education Board of Udupi Diocese Rev Fr. Vincent Crasta opined that education is the most powerful weapon to change the world and everyone should work towards getting higher education.

He was on Sunday October 13 at ‘Anugrah’ Udupi Diocesan Pastoral Centre in Kakkunje, near here Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh and Teresa Cornelio and her family participated in the scholarship program for economically backward talented students organized under their joint auspices.

Education provides the necessary tools to improve the quality of life, both economically and socially, in modern society. Education is a means of inter-communication and education is an integral part of the development of the individual and the society. He advised the scholarship recipients to develop the character of helping others after their development and to focus on government posts in large numbers.

Veronica Cornelio, a social worker and a member of the Teresa Cornelio family, said that in today’s competitive world, it is difficult to get a better future if you do not have a good education that is relevant to today’s needs. In this regard, students should pay more attention to higher education, she said.

Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh President Santosh Cornelio presided over the program. Monsignor Ferdinand Gonsalves, Spiritual Director of the Catholic Church, blessed the occasion.

Scholarship worth Rs 5 lakh was distributed to 50 students in the program. Meanwhile, Sashakta Community Trust also distributed grants for higher education to two students from the funds of Cap Cell Kallianpur.

Treasurer Gerald Rodrigues, Co-ordinator Luis D’Souza, Ex-Presidents Alphonse D’Costa, Walter Cyril Pinto, Kallianpur Zonal President Rosy Quadras, Kundapura Zonal President Wilson D’Almeida and other office bearers were present.
