Funeral arrangements of V. Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca , Rector Milagres Cathedral.

The Mortal remains will be brought to Milagres  Cathedral Kallianpur on Monday, 8th July, 2024 at 12 noon for public viewing. The general public will be allowed to pay homage till 3:15pm at the church portico. All those who wish to keep flower bouquets or wreaths on the coffin are requested to do so before 3:15. No one will be allowed for the same after the commencement of funeral mass at 3:30 pm.

Separate places inside the church will be reserved for priests, nuns and family members.

During the burial only the priests, nuns, family members and selected members of the parish pastoral council will be permitted inside the cemetery, around the grave.

Once the coffin is laid in the grave and those who are around the grave start moving out then the rest of the people move towards the grave pay their last respects.

Parking arrangement

1. Priests, nuns and the family members will park their vehicle at the Milagres Cathedral Church premises.

2. Those who stay back for the funeral service/Mass are requested to park their vehicles at Milagres College premises.

3. Those who come for public viewing and leave thereafter are requested to park their vehicles in the English Medium High School premises.

There will be sufficient number of volunteers to guide you.

ಅತೀ ವಂದನೀಯ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ಪೂಜ್ಯ ವಲೇರಿಯನ್ ಮೆಂಡೋನ್ಸಾ , ರೆಕ್ಟರ್, ಮಿಲಾಗ್ರಿಸ್ ಕಾಥೆಡ್ರಲ್ ಇವರ ಪಾರ್ಥಿವ ಶರೀರದ ಅಂತಿಮ‌ ದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸೋಮವಾರ ಜುಲೈ 8, 2024 ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ 12 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಮಿಲಾಗ್ರಿಸ್‌ ಇಗರ್ಜಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ವೀಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಅನುವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡಲಾಗುವುದು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪುಷ್ಪ ನಮನ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವವರಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ  3:15 ರ ತನಕ‌ ಅವಕಾಶವಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಮಾಧಿ ಸ್ಥಳದ ಅಂತಿಮ‌ ವಿಧಿ ವಿಧಾನದ ಬಲಿಪೂಜೆಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಗರ್ಜಿಯ ಒಳಗೆ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಪುಷ್ಪ ನಮನ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಅವಕಾಶವಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಧರ್ಮಗುರುಗಳಿಗೆ, ಧರ್ಮ ಭಗಿನಿಯರಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕುಟುಂಬಸ್ಥರಿಗೆ ಇಗರ್ಜಿಯ ಒಳಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಕಾದಿರಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು.

ಸಮಾಧಿ‌ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಕೇವಲ ಧರ್ಮಗುರುಗಳು, ಧರ್ಮ ಭಗಿನಿಯರು,  ಕುಟುಂಬಸ್ಥರು ಹಾಗೂ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿಯ ಆಯ್ದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಹಾಜರಿರಲು ಅವಕಾಶವಿರುವುದು.

ಧರ್ಮಗುರುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರರು ಸಮಾಧಿಯ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂತಿಮ ವಿಧಿ ವಿಧಾನಗಳನ್ನು  ನಡೆಸಿ ಹೊರಬಂದ‌ ನಂತರ,   ಉಳಿದವರಿಗೆ ಅಂತಿಮ ನಮನ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡಲಾಗುವುದು.  

ಪಾರ್ಕಿಂಗ್ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ

1.  ಧರ್ಮಗುರುಗಳು, ಧರ್ಮ ಭಗಿನಿಯರು & ಕುಟುಂಬಸ್ಥರು ಇಗರ್ಜಿಯ ಹೊರ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು

2. ಪಾರ್ಥಿವ ಶರೀರದ ಅಂತಿಮ ದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವವರು ಮಿಲಾಗ್ರಿಸ್ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು

3.ಇಗರ್ಜಿಯಲ್ಲಿ‌ ಬಲಿಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವವರು ಮಿಲಾಗ್ರಿಸ್ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗಿ ವಿನಂತಿ.

Demise of Very Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca, Correspondent, Milagres Institutions - Condolence Meeting held on June 04, 2024 at 9.45 am.
A condolence meeting has been held at the College on the sad and sudden demise of Very Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca, Correspondent of Milagres Institutions.

Speaking to the audience Rev Fr Vincent Crasta, the secretary of Catholic Education Society said the church has lost an eminent priest and an able administrator, a renowned musician and above all a compassionate human being.

Most Rev Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of the diocese of Udupi and president of the Milagres Institutions, Very Rev Monsignor Ferdinand Gonsalves, Vicar  General and Vice President of Milagres Institutions and Fr Pradeep Cardoza, Asst. Parish Priest of the Milagres cathedral were present and paid homage to the deceased soul.

Heads of the various schools and colleges under Milagres Institutions offered floral tribute to the portrait of very Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca. Students, well-wishers, alumni, parents and teachers gathered in large numbers and paid homage to Fr Mendonca.

Dr Jayaram Shettigar compered the program and spoke a few words on the sentiments of the campus on the demise of our beloved correspondent.
What a towering personality, handsome looks, and immaculate smile – his very exterior appearance had that magnetic attraction – whether he was in the Holy Altar of God, classroom, pulpit, any public stage, Principal’s cabin or in his office - the dignity and decorum, neatness and accommodation to visitors you see it from any angle always graceful and divine….

Then, it will be experience of different kind once you meet him, it’s a pleasure to talk or converse with him. The way he makes you comfortable, with his most beautiful smile, make you to open up freely for the purpose one arrived…..

The lifeless mortal remains of Very Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca reminds and rewind pleasant memories in his company over the years – As a student, a parishioner, a well wisher, a councillor, a family friend… thousands have innumerable things, who has seen or come in contact with him  influenced, encouraged, motivated…

May Almighty Lord grant him eternal peace in heaven and strength to all – students and teachers, parishioners and friends, family and relatives to bear this grief and sorrow.

Funeral services of Very Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca will be held on Monday, 8th July, 2024, in the Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur.
Mortal remains will be brought to the Church at 12.00 noon for parishioners and public to pay their last respects and viewing till 3.15 pm.
Funeral Holy Mass will be celebrated at 3.30 pm in the Milagres Cathedral followed by burial.

Udupi: Fr Valerian Mendonca, rector of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur passes away

Udupi, Jul 3: Fr Valerian Mendonca, rector of Milagres Cathedral in Kallianpur, passed away due to a heart attack on Wednesday, July 3 evening. He was 75.

Fr Valerian Mendonca was a native of Pilar, Shirva, born on December 9, 1949. He was ordained on May 7, 1976. His parents were Gabriel Mendonca and Seraphine Mendonca.

He held an MA in English and a Diploma in Communications (Radio & AV Aids), alongside a B Th from Urban University, Rome. He subsequently served as an assistant director at St Anthony’s Ashram in Jeppu, assistant priest in Vamanjoor, and pursued studies in Secunderabad and at the Canara Communication Center in Mangaluru. He later served as Parish Priest of the Kallianpur Milagres Cathedral and held various roles in Mangaluru, Talooru Church Administration, and at the Udupi Mother of Sorrows Church. Presently, he was serving as the Parish Priest of the Kallianpur Milagres Cathedral.
