Udupi : The prelude to the annual parish feast celebrations on Tuesday , January 16 and Wednesday 17^th January, Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur of Udupi diocese celebrated Confraternity Sunday on January 14^th, 2024.

The Holy Eucharist Solemn mass con-celebrated by Rev Fr. Steevan Fernandes, Director of Youth Commission and Director of Milagres Home for Senior Priests along with Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Rector and parish priest of Milagres Cathedral, Rev Fr. Joy Andrade, Asst. parish priest, Very Rev Fr. Denzil Martis, Superior and Vocational Director of Pilar Minar Seminary and Rev Fr. Nethesh D’souza, Vocational Director of Pilar Fathers Kallianpur.

In his homily, Fr. Steevan D’Souza pointed out the celebration of Confraternity Sunday and Brotherhood. The celebration of Holy Eucharist has promoted brotherhood and unity as one family of the church. The Eucharist has the great power possible to move the family to love and serve God with brotherhood, unity which serves God. The Holy Sacrament is the Sacrament of brotherhood which reconciles us to God in one brotherhood with unity among us and it provides the grace to restore unity among all who are members of the Body of Christ. The Eucharist demonstrates its efficacy in the fruits of a new life in the world, in the fruits of holiness and becoming more God – like, that is, in the fruits of eternal life. The Eucharis is seen as the Sacrament of intense spirituality with brotherhood and unity with one another.

The Holy Eucharist is uniting us with brotherhood. Jesus calls us that we are all one body. We should witness the mystery of faith in God with Eucharistic celebrations. We need to find out the needy in our family and should see the brotherhood with them. Eucharist is surveying us and it is the sacrament of sacrifice, unity and service.

After the weekly announcements at the end, by the Rector Fr. Valerian Mendonca , Adoration of the Holy Eucharistic Sacrament was performed by the main celebrant Rev Fr. Steeven Fernandes. Followed by Adoration, a huge Eucharistic procession was held with devotion and gaiety. The Eucharistic Holy Sacrament was carried on by Fr. Steevan Fernandes  in a decorated van.

The procession culminated at Ozanam Home for the Aged premises, where short prayers were held and blessings of the Holy Sacrament by Fr Steevan. The Confraternity Sunday culminated with brief gratitude words from Rector Fr. Valerian Mendonca.

Large number of faithful witnessed the beauty of Confraternity Sunday and Brotherhood day with unity and gaiety. The samasas and cold drink was distributed to all the faithful participated.
