National Youth Day Celebration at Mount Rosary Church Santhekatte – Kallianpur

Udupi, August 8, 2021: As the Church in India woke up early morning today, on 8th August, 2021 to celebrate the National Day for the Youth. The enthusiastic ‘Rosarian Youngsters’ led by the ICYM & YCS in our Mount Rosary Church, Kallianpur - Santhekatte gathered in large number in the Church Portico at 7.45 am holding lighted candles, and entered the Church in a procession at 8.00 am with the main celebrant Rev. Fr Steven Fernandes, Assistant Vicar of the parish, to thank Almighty Lord for his bountiful blessings in the Holy Eucharist. The days liturgy lead by the youth was well organised to focus on their role, importance and contribution as about 75 youth were seated specially in the front rows to be close to God.

Fr Steven instructed the youth in his homily, specially woven to touch the hearts of youngsters. He said: “The heroes of both today and tomorrow and the energies that going to define the future both as an individual and team to be directed in proper channels in constructive activities……and the Church significantly banking on you…..”. He gave the inspiring examples of Thomas Alva Edison an American Scientist ‘who never lost hope in his life, though at the age of 70 odd he lost everything he invented for the life time….’ Rev. Dr Leslie C. D’Souza, specially took the occasion to congratulate the youth of the parish and conveyed his greetings for their special day, ‘make the best of your youth days because they are never going to come back…enjoy, involve and aspire for better things keeping Jesus who always loved the youth and children.
    
After the Holy Eucharist, the youth assembled in the Millennium Hall for the cultural programme. All were served with sumptuous breakfast. The stage programme was given a start with the prayer led by YCS Members. The president of ICYM, Remus Saldanaha welcomed the gathering. The YCS team presented a cultural dance and various games were conducted by Fr Steven Fernandes and ICYM members.

To conclude the celebration of the day Carol Menezes proposed the vote of thanks and Manisha Lobo aptly compered the whole programme.
